A Varisu certificate application online can be made by any legal heir of a deceased person who has passed without leaving the will behind.
The below-mentioned individuals are entitled to receive the Varisu certificate online:
Spouse of the deceased
Child or children of the deceased
Parents of the deceased.

The Varisu certificate is of two types: one issued by the tahsildar, and the other issued by the court to the legal heir of the deceased individual.
A Varisu certificate requires documents when one needs to make a Varisu certificate application online in Tamil Nadu.
A self-undertaking affidavit
Identity proof like an Aadhaar card, voter ID, driving license, passport, or any other government-issued identification card.
Proof of address like a telephone bill, gas bill, electricity bill, etc.
Death certificate of the deceased person
Certificate showing the date of birth of the legal heir, like a birth certificate, PAN card, passport, etc.
Address proof of the deceased person.
To obtain and download the Varisu certificate, follow the below steps:
Step 1: Visit https://www.tnesevai.tn.gov.in/citizen/portallogin.aspx and login. First-time users will have to first register by clicking on Sign Up.
Step 2: Mention your full name, taluk, district, email address, and mobile number.
Step 3: Carefully write the captcha code and select the 'Sign Up' option. Now you will receive an OTP on your mobile number.
Step 4: Enter your OTP on the page; once the verification process is complete, click the 'Login' option.
Step 5: Choose the option 'Select Wise." Now click on REV-114 Legal Heir Certificate.
Step 6: A new window will open where you must scroll down and select the 'Proceed' option.
Step 7: On the next page, mention the necessary details like your name, father's name, CAN number, Aadhar, and DOB. Now click on 'Search'. (You can register for CAN by choosing 'Register CAN' if you don't have a CAN number.)
Step 8: You can view the certificate form online after entering the details. Fill in the application form, upload the necessary documents, and proceed to pay online.
Now, you will receive an acknowledgement receipt for the online Varisu certificate application, which will be generated upon the completion of the payment. The receipt will have details like the application number that you can use to track the status of your application and use it for future purposes.

Step 1: Visit the TN e-District Department login page.
Step 2: Mention your application or acknowledgement number.
Step 3: Login to the e-Sevai website and select the 'legal heir certificate' option.
Step 4: Choose 'Check Status' and find the Varisu certificate status of the application online.
One can download the legal heir certificate from the official eSevai website once it gets approved by the revenue department.
The Varisu certificate is a mandatory document in Tamil Nadu that contains information about the rightful heirs of the deceased. It is advisable to obtain the Varisu certificate in order to secure the family's legal rights, preserve the family's legacy, and pass it on to future generations.
