Gurugram Housing: Registration Norms Relaxed; Min Plot Size 100 Sq Yards

In an announcement on Thursday, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) declared that plots of 100 square yards can now be regularized.

The urban local bodies department specified that a minimum plot size of 100 square yards and above would be eligible for regularisation, and for new sub-divisions; a minimum sub-divided plot size of 50 square yards would be considered.

MCG commissioner PC Meena stated that previously, regularisation and sub-division were permitted for plots with a minimum area of 200 sq yards, but this has now been reduced to 100 sq yards.

In a statement, MCG Commissioner said, “The state government recently issued a notification stating that sub-divided plots of 100 sq yards or more in area are eligible for regularisation. The applications for the regularisation of such sub-divided plots falling under the MCG limit will have to be submitted to the MCG commissioner.”

Haryana Building Code 2017 stipulates that the plot owner must obtain building plan approvals. It is mandatory that the sub-divided plot has the same front setback as the original plot.

The notification further states, “The applicant shall apply for regularisation of sub-divided/fresh subdivision of plot as per the prescribed format to the competent authority i.e. commissioner in case of municipal corporation and district municipal commissioner in case of municipal council and committees.”

As the government tries to combat the mushrooming of illegal colonies in Haryana, this move seems to just hit the right chord.

Notably, a special provision of the Haryana Management of Civic Amenities and Infrastructure Deficient Areas Outside Municipal Areas (Special Provisions) Act 2021 is now also allowing illegal colonies located outside municipal areas to apply for regularisation by January 18. The application can be created by the RWA developers.
