Jaipur, famously known as the Pink City, is a beautiful blend of heritage, culture, and modernity. In its quest to keep pace with rapid urbanisation, Jaipur has successfully embraced modern modes of transportation with the introduction of the Jaipur Metro. It serves citizens as a time-saving alternative to traditional modes of transport.
The Jaipur Metro is designed into two phases- the first phase is already functioning and is being considered for further expansion. The Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation is implementing the project with support from various government bodies.
Like other metros in India, the Jaipur Metro uses 1435 mm tracks and 25 kV AC via the overhead catenary. The Jaipur Rail Project is being constructed in phases, i.e., east-west and north-south corridors.
The East-West corridor is the first phase of the project. It runs from Mansarovar to Badi Chaupar.
The second phase will run from Sitapura Industrial Area to Ambabari.
With its efficiency and well-connected network, the Jaipur Metro aims to provide seamless travel across major locations in the city. The Jaipur Metro is being constructed in two phases. The first phase includes the Pink Line, which is currently functioning, whereas the second phase includes the Orange Line, which is under construction.
The Pink Line connects Badi Chaupar with Mansarovar and is 12.067 km long. The Jaipur Metro station of the pink line consists of 11 metro stations, of which 8 are elevated, and three are underground.
The Pink Line is further divided into two phases
1-A, which is 9.718 km long, consists of nine stations that will start from Mansarovar to Chandpole
1-B is 2.349 km long and consists of two stations, Choti Chaupar and Badi Chaupar.
