The Chennai Airport new terminal T2 terminal covers an area of 1,36,295 square meters. It is responsible for handling the incoming and outgoing international flights, which were earlier handled by the T3 and T4 international terminals.

Chennai Airport is an International Airport, therefore, connecting international destinations with Chennai in particular and India in general. Chennai International Airport handled over 4 lakh international passengers in December 2022.
To efficiently handle the growing population of air passengers, two new Chennai airport terminals are planned. Moreover, one satellite terminal is underway. Once completed, Chennai International Airport MAA will be the first airport in India to have a satellite terminal.
At present, Chennai International Meenambakkam Airport has the following operational terminals:
Terminal 1 (Domestic): Chennai International Airport has a domestic terminal (T1) named after the former CM of Tamil Nadu, K. Kamaraj. Therefore, the domestic terminal at Chennai Airport is also known as Kamaraj Terminal. T1 serves as the Chennai Airport Arrival and Departure terminal for domestic flights.
Terminal 3: Constructed in 1988, Terminal 3 of the Chennai International Airport serves as the international terminal, named after the former CM of Tamil Nadu, C.N. Annadurai. Therefore T3 is also known as Anna Terminal. It hosts International arrivals.
Terminal 4: Terminal 4 is the Chennai Airport New terminal which began its operation in 2017. It serves as a Chennai Airport International departure terminal.
In addition to the above Chennai Airport terminals, there is a cargo terminal at Meenambakkam terminal.

A new airport is coming up to provide air services to Chennai. The proposed new Chennai Airport name, Parandur Greenfield International Airport, is currently under construction and is expected to start its operation by 2028. In addition to the Chennai International Airport, it will cater to the growing need for air travel passengers. This new airport in Chennai will be able to serve 10 crores passengers every year. It will play an essential role in strengthening the connectivity between Chennai and the world.
