Agra Metro Project: Overview

The Agra Metro Rail Project is a mass rapid transit system that is operated and managed by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation. With the inauguration of the Agra metro construction work in 2020, the metro is expected to become operational by February 2024.

The 29.65km long Agra metro map has 2 lines, yellow and blue, covering 29 stations. The metro will be constructed in 2 phases; in Phase 1, the yellow line will be constructed, and the blue line will be constructed in Phase 2. The Agra metro train will have 3 coaches, which will travel at an average speed of 29.40 km/h. 


Agra Metro Project: Yellow Line

The yellow line of the Agra Metro project has a total length of 14.27km, out of which 7.6km will be underground, and the rest will be elevated.

  • Jama Masjid to Taj East Corridor is the priority corridor of the yellow line of the Agra metro. This corridor has 6 stations, of which Taj East Gate, Basai, and Fatehabad Road stations are elevated. The construction work of these stations has been completed. 

  • Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and Jama Masjid are the underground stations on this line. 

  • A tunnel connects the Jama Masjid Metro Station with the Agra Fort Metro Station.

Agra Metro Route: Yellow Line

The Yellow Line Agra metro route has 15 stations, of which 7 are elevated, and 8 are underground stations. To know the stations of the yellow line Agra metro route, refer to the list below:

Agra Metro Map: Yellow Line

The Agra metro map of the yellow line is shown above. The estimated cost of the yellow line is Rs.8379.62 Crore. 

 

Agra Metro: Blue Line

The blue line of the Agra metro route is 15.40km long, and is currently under construction. The estimated cost of Rs. 4520.38 Crore is involved in this project. The Blue Line (line 2) of the Agra metro route, will facilitate a seamless travel experience between Kalindi Vihar and Agra Cantt. 

In this line of the Agar Metro route, all the stations are elevated, unlike Line 1, which is a yellow line.

St. John’s (Agra University) is an interchange station for both the yellow line (line 1) and the blue line (line 2).


Agra Metro Map: Blue Line

Agra Metro Fare

The specific fare for the Agra metro route has not yet been disclosed. However, the minimum Agra metro fare for the priority corridor is Rs. 10/-, and the maximum is Rs. 20/-.

Agra metro fare will be charged based on the number of metro stations traveled. The estimated fare structure of the Agra route is as follows:

  • Rs. 10 for 1 metro station traveled

  • Rs. 15 for 2 Metro Stations traveled

  • Rs. 20 for traveling 3 to 6 metro stations

  • Rs. 30 for traveling 7 to 9 metro stations

  • Rs. 40 for traveling 10 to 13 metro stations

  • Rs. 50 for traveling 14 to 17 metro stations

Latest News on Agra Metro Project

The construction of the Agra metro is in full swing. The recent developments on this mega project include: 

  • Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, inaugurated the train trial of Agra Metro. Agra metro services will become operational for the general public by February 2024.

  • Jama Masjid metro station on the Agra Metro route will be renamed as Mankameshwar Mandir station.
